By accessing or using the Macademia Tree API ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the Service.
2. Description of Service
Macademia Tree provides a RESTful API that serves structured academic taxonomy data, including domains, disciplines, sub-disciplines, and topics. The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.
3. API Usage
You may use the API for lawful purposes in accordance with these terms. You agree not to:
- Exceed the rate limits associated with your plan
- Attempt to circumvent authentication or rate-limiting mechanisms
- Use the Service to build a competing taxonomy API product
- Redistribute bulk data obtained through the API without permission
- Use the Service in any way that could damage, disable, or impair it
4. API Keys
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your API keys. Any activity that occurs under your API key is your responsibility. Notify us immediately if you believe your key has been compromised.
5. Intellectual Property
The taxonomy data served by the API is provided for use in your applications. The structure, organization, and presentation of the Macademia Tree service, documentation, and website remain our intellectual property.
6. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Macademia Tree shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenue, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data or use.
7. Modifications
We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of significant changes.
8. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time for violation of these terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease.
